King's Coronation Celebrations
To celebrate the King's Coronation, we invited students to dress in red, white and blue or add something 'Royal' to their uniform or hair! We played themed games and even decorated crown shaped biscuits to mark the event. The students had a wonderful time celebrating such a momentous occasion and even got to take home a Royal cupcake baked by Miss Helen's Mum!
Tasty Teaching Methods! This term the children have tried out some fun (and very tasty!) teaching methods.
In pre-primary and primary tap classes, Miss Rhiannon taped starbursts to the children's heel taps so that they could practice dancing on their toes. The children practiced jumping, hopping and walking aiming not to squash their starbursts! After they compared their starbursts, the children put them in their bags to take home and tried dancing without them attached. They did brilliantly! The Grade 2 taps also used the starbursts to practice the backwards flicking action required for pick ups on two feet. The Grade 2 and 3 modern classes had an exciting lesson learning about rhythm. They saw how a bar of KitKat had 4 fingers, representing one bar of music and then experimented breaking it down to match different note values. The children used their knowledge of music and fractions to help them and at the end, got to enjoy a tasty treat! |
Pantomime 2023We are so proud of two of our lovely students who were asked to take part in Ombersley Dramatic Societies 2023 Pantomime 'Jack and the Beanstalk' along with dancers from two other dance schools. The girls did a fantastic job with their dances, learning them in a short space of time. A particular highlight was their UV skeleton dance where they were in total darkness so that all the audience could see was the skeleton pattern on their costumes. Well done for representing Focal Pointe so brilliantly!

Christmas PartyOnce again, both our junior and senior Christmas parties were great successes!
The juniors had lots of fun playing party games including a competition to build the best toilet paper snowman. Our senior dancers had a pyjama party compete with blankets and pillows! They played games including a cup game which left the dancers scrabbling around the floor! They also played a relay race to decorate their 'Christmas Tree'. Thank you to all of the parent helpers who gave up their time to support the junior party. |
Dance Show 2023
This years show 'Gone But Not Forgotten' was a tribute to memories/people/places. All dancers from beginners (age 3) up to adults danced beautifully. Once again, thank you to all parents/guardians who supported their dancers in preparations for the show and an extra special thank you to those who gave up their time during the shows to volunteer with hair, makeup, refreshments, and with the children backstage. We couldn't have done it without your support. Thanks to all of your generous donations, we managed to raise a total of £1550 for Parkinson's UK. Have a look at out gallery tab to see more photos!
