Adult Classes

Focal Pointe has a thriving community of adult dancers from all dance backgrounds. Whether you used to dance as a child and have always wanted to get back in to it, or whether this is your first experience of dance, there's a class for you! Our adult classes have a relaxed and welcoming feel, perfect for meeting new people and learning a new skill. Dance can help improve posture, balance, coordination and are a great way to build self-confidence.

Our Adult Classes

Ballet

Ballet is a graceful form of dance focused on technique, musicality and artistry. Classes typically start with gentle movements at the barre and move on to centre work which includes longer dance sequences, jumps and turns. We also offer pointe preparation and pointe classes for adults.

Tap

Tap is a genre of dance where the dancer creates sounds by striking the floor with their feet. Initially you will learn basic movements which will gradually become more complex. This class is a great way to challenge balance and coordination whilst having fun!

Contemporary/Jazz

Contemporary and jazz involve whole body movements and have similar components such as leaps, kicks and turns. Contemporary is usually slower and more controlled than jazz, often involving gestures. Jazz is set to upbeat music and involves short sharp movements as well as bigger, explosive actions.

Performance Opportunities For Adults

Our adult dancers have the opportunity to take part in our biannual dance performance. Rehearsals happen during weekly classes in the months leading up to the show. It is a wonderful chance for the adult class to get to know each other even better and work together to perform for an audience. Exams For Adults

For lots of our adults, classes are a way to learn new skills in a lighthearted way however we are also able to coach adults through exams if they wish.
Recently, one of our lovely adult dancers took her Grade 4 Tap exam achieving Distinction.
